Why StarCode
The block is the real code
Most block coding hides the writing until a child is "ready" for it. StarCode shows both at once, side by side, so the jump never has to happen.
Drag a block, read the line it writes.
Switch language and compare the same program.
Type the code instead and the blocks build themselves.
Hardware
Plug in a robot. Code it. It moves.
The browser talks to the robot itself, over USB or Bluetooth. No driver to install, and nothing to flash onto the robot first.
The Tutor
A teacher for the program in front of them
A child stuck on a program can ask, in their own words, in their own language, and get an answer about the blocks on their screen right now.
Knows which robot is plugged in, and what is on the canvas.
Not trained on anybody's work. Nothing a child types is kept.
Never asked to write the program for them.
The blocks, the code, the robots and the remote control are free. The Tutor comes with a teacher or parent plan.
Three real questions, and the answers a child got back.
Languages
In 22 languages
The whole app, not just the menus. A child codes in the language they think in, and the program is the same program either way.
Nothing to set up, start programming robots now
